allSPY Coolant Level Detector (Standalone)

Possibly your vehicle's biggest risk - laid to rest!

The allSPY Coolant Level Detector is fitted to the side of the vehicle expansion tank and senses the presence of coolant through the side of the tank. It is a non-intrusive mechanism for detecting a sudden loss of coolant in your vehicle. Simply glue the device to the side of your expansion tank at your chosen alarm level.

The Sensitivity

Some would argue that the most important item to monitor is your Coolant Level in the expansion tank.

Sudden loss of coolant, coupled with the fact that most vehicle temperature gauges are so heavily damped, ensures that the engine has overheated before the gauge even moves off centre! A new head gasket or head is the inevitable result.

Although the TD5SPY circumvents this by providing an early warning (and I can vouch for this), fitting the allSPY Coolant Level Detector provides an immediate alarm and peace of mind!

Don't worry, you don't need to drill holes into your coolant reservoir, as our system is completely non-intrusive!  It is fitted to the side of the vehicle expansion tank and detects the coolant level directly through the side of your coolant reservoir! Just silicone it to the side our your reservoir and you're done.

NOTE: The sensor cannot work through metal objects i.e. radiators

The Kit

The kit includes a buzzer and LED that are connected to the unit to provide an alarm inside your vehicle when coolant loss is detected. The following table shows the required connections:

Unit RED: 12V
Unit BLACK: GND
Unit WHITE: LED RED
Unit PURPLE: BUZZER RED

LED BLACK: GND
Buzzer BLACK: GND

Fitting Instructions:
    1. Mount the led and buzzer in a suitable position within the passenger compartment in the vehicle. Connect the black wires of both the buzzer and LED to the battery (-) negative.
    2. Connect the red wire of the LED to the white wire of the detector.
    3. Connect the red wire of the buzzer to the purple wire of the detector.
    4. Connect the black wire of the detector to vehicle earth or battery (-) negative.
    5. Connect the red wire of the detector to battery ( ) positive. (This can be after the ignition switch if required.)
    6. Place the detector against the expansion tank . The red LED on the detector should light and the buzzer should stop. Remove the detector and the buzzer should sound.
    7. Silicon or glue the detector to the side of the expansion tank away from direct heat of the engine.
